Havranické vřesoviště - The first wild foal born in Podyjí
On 10 April 2019, the first wild horse was born in the herd of Exmoor ponies grazing heathland in Podyjí National Park.
The foal was born exactly eleven months after the arrival in Podyjí of these wild horses from Exmoor, England.
Other mares in the group are also pregnant and other foals should be born in the next few days. The situation is similar with a second herd near Mašovice. A total of nine foals could be born.
The horses need peace and quiet now, so that the young can get used to their pasture.
Wild horses give birth without human assistance. They are on pastures all year round and without additional feeding.
We kindly ask visitors not to enter the enclosures or go near the horses.
