Steppe grasslands at Pánov
On the driest parts of Pánov, removal of residues from felled black locust created a remarkable mosaic of steppe grassland with a rare fescue Festuca psammophila subsp. dominii and bare sands. It will be interesting to see what plant species will spread onto the free patches - if it will rather be the species of more stratified steppes growing around, or annual species occupying freshly disturbed sands, such as cudweeds or branched plantain. It is also a very valuable habitat for rare insect species.
